The Generator can be utilised to model a generation point within a network i.e. a supply point that has a generation limit. The Generator can be modelled by specifying the fixed generating power in P and Q. e.g. if a generator is utilised as a synchronous condenser then the VArs generated into the system are specified by the Reactive Power (Q).

The Generator can be utilised to control the voltage magnitude (p.u.) or the voltage angle of the connected busbar. The busbar voltage magnitude is controlled by varying the Reactive Power (Q) and the voltage angle is controlled by varying the Active Power (P). If the Motor Mode is checked, then the Generator can be used to “draw” power from the system.

The following properties of the Generator can be changed or viewed:

1.Name, Number and Description,

2.Fixed Generating Power P(real) and Q(Reactive)

3.Generation Power Limit as % of available generating power.

4.Steady State, Transient and Sub-Transient Three Phase and Single phase fault contirbutions.

5.Display Options.

To Place a Generator

There has to be a Bus Bar in the project before a Generator can be placed, since a Generator is placed or Connected to a Bus Bar.

With the mouse click on in the Generator Button on the Toolbar or use the Generator command from the Network main menu. A Generator data dialog box will appear.  Enter all the relevant information and Click on the Bus Bar to place the Generator.

Once complete, Right Click on "whitespace" in the Working Area to Reset the Command.
