PowaMaster contains the powerful functionality of performing load profile calculations.  Should the user perform measurements over a period of time, at certain points within the network, these measurements can be rapidly imported into PowaMaster in order to perform load flow calculations over the period measured. Load Categories allows the User to “lump” together loads that have similar properties. This allows the User to assign groups of loads to a category created in the Tools/Load Categories menu. This allows the User for example to rapidly change the Scale Factor or Coincidence factors of the grouped loads. E.g certain loads in the network are to increase in a new project to 1,2 times their current rating. Create a category called “Future” and assign a scaled factor of 1,2. Edit the relevant loads and change the load category to “Future”.

To create a load category and assign to a load profile the user can create the profile in Excel (*.xls) or Access (*.mdb). Measurements have to be performed in the areas of the network at which these load profiles are to be applied. The load profile variation of load with time can be specified either as a scale factor and power factor or as a P (kW) and Q (kVAr) measurement.

The scale factor measurement allows the user to apply the same “shaped” profile to loads of different magnitude.

CP% - Constant Power%;
CI% - Constant Current;
CZ% - Constant Impedance

If all are 0 the CP% 100% is assumed.

Once a profile has been created in Access or Excel, Click on the File - Open Button in the load profiles form and select the *.mdb, *.xls file created. The profile will be loaded and graphed. Click the Calculation Button to perform the load flow calculation. Alternatively in order to perform a load profile calculation, use the Calculate/Load Profiles from the main menu. The calculation performs a load flow calculation for each entry in the database. In order to view the results of the load measurements, Right Click a network element and select Results and view the Profiles Tabsheet.

The profile can also be changed in the PowaMaster interface by clicking on the Values tab and entering the relevant figures into the relevant cells. Right clicking any of the cells will give the user a menu which will allow further manipulation of the data. Any changes, deletions or additions made here will be reflected immediately on the graph tab.
