Select File from the main menu and then the New command or select the New button on the toolbar. This command will clear the current workspace and load all user defaults to start a new project. If no user defaults were saved the built-in defaults will be used.
Open an existing file by clicking File, Open on the main menu or select the Open button on the toolbar to read the data into memory.
PowaMaster files have an extension of .pmd and by default the files of type in the Open Dialog will be as such.
PowaMaster provides the functionality of opening a file previously saved in an Excel format or an Access format. This allows the User to edit the network at the file level if required.
Background Images such as Bitmap, JPEG and Enhanced Metafiles can also be opened this way.
A history list will keep track of the 10 most recently used files. To reopen any one of the most recently used files, select File, Reopen command. From there select the appropriate file to open.
Should the file no longer exist in the location the history list points to, it will automatically be removed from the history list.
This function will remove all history items stored in the history list. It will NOT delete any files associated with the history items.
Note: PowaMaster will automatically remove any history item from the history list if the data file doesn't exist in the original location.
Files can be saved as either a PowaMaster data files (*.pmd), Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets, or Microsoft Access databases.
Should it be required to change the file format from either PowaMaster to Excel or Access
The File Save as Type command can be selected in the Save Dialog.
Open the Data Library
The user has the option to print the full network 
or to print a portion of the network 
to a printer/plotter.
1.Select File, Print from the main menu or select the Print Button on the Toolbar.
2.A Printer dialog box will appear where the user can select a printer and printer properties.
3.The User can select to fit the network to the size of the paper used or to print the network over multiple pages by selecting to print proportional.
4.PowaMaster will Print the diagram using the specified printer properties, such as Landscape or Portrait printing.
In addition to printing the network, the User can save the network as an image to be inserted into a report. This can be done by either creating an image of the whole network 
or by saving an image of a portion of the network 
.
1.Select File, Export Image from the main menu or select the Export Image Button on the Toolbar.
2.A File Export as dialog box will appear where the user can select a file type.
3.PowaMaster will Export the diagram to the appropriate image type.
To exit the application, select the File, Exit command from the main menu. If the project was not saved before choosing this command, the application will warn you that the file was not saved and prompts you to do so before exiting.
A shortcut "Alt+F4" provides the same effect as the menu selection.
